Relationships between siblings are not always easy, especially during childhood when you are most likely to get in petty fights. However, having a sister can make you a happier and more optimistic person once you grow up, according to a study by the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland and published by The Telegraph,
How does having a sister influence your happiness?
According to the researchers, sisters seem to encourage more open communication and cohesiveness in families, resulting in an ability to share and express emotions that results in good psychological health for all members.
Sisters tend to cause a positive outlook.
In addition, according to the survey, girls who had sisters also tend to be more independent and have a more optimistic attitude in general. The same effect was not observed in families with only boys or just one girl among the siblings.
This study questioned 571 young adults, aged between 17 and 25 years, about the formation of their families and their emotional well-being.
Thank your sister this holiday season!
