Believe it or not, people who have trouble waking up early are said to be smarter and happier...because science!
Good news for sleepyheads
The study is called Why Night Owls Are More Intelligent and states that people who sleep more and control their sleep pattern wake up with more creativity than those who do not.
Researchers Satoshi Kanazawa and Kaja Perina said that when we avoid the alarm we are acting according to what our body requires, instead of being a slave to custom.
In addition, a previous study conducted in 1998 by a team at the University of Southampton found that people who went to sleep after 11 p.m. and they woke up after 8 a.m. were happier and made more money.
"356 people (29%) were defined as larks (to bed before 11 pm and up before 8 am) and 318 (26%) were defined as owls (to bed at or after 11 pm and up at or after 8 am). There was no indication that larks were richer than those with other sleeping patterns. On the contrary, owls had the largest mean income and were more likely to have access to a car. There was also no evidence that larks were superior to those with other sleeping patterns with regard to their cognitive performance or their state of health."
In a nutshell, those who do not press the snooze button and wake up when their body needs it are usually happier and smarter than the rest. Always have 8 hours of rest or a little more. Achieving control of the sleep pattern is the key!
