Anthony Bourdain's unexpected death on Friday shook the entire world. The late chef and travel host was found unresponsive in his hotel room in France by French chef and close friend Eric Ripert. He was in the European country filming for his CNN series Parts Uknown.
CNN confirmed the news via an official press statement, stating that "his love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink, and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller."
Following the tragic news, Bourdain's girlfriend, Italian actress Asia Argento, expressed her thoughts on social media. In her post, she referred to her boyfriend as her love, rock, and protector. Read it below:
The 42-year-old actress and 61-year-old TV host met in 2016 during the filming of Parts Uknown in Rome. They began dating a year later.
According to People, Bourdain was very happy in his relationship: “I’m happier for sure. It’s nice to be with somebody who I see as a peer. She’s been in this circus since she was nine. She knows so much more about so many of the things that are important to me — music, books, film, the technical aspects of film, and just the weird state of celebrity, being somebody that people come up to. That’s something she’s dealt with a lot longer than me. I was 44 before that started happening. Whereas, it’s been like that for her since she was a kid.”
