Just when we thought we were never going to see the Obamas ever again... BAM! Netflix dropped some major news.
On Monday, the internet entertainment service announced that former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, under Higher Ground Productions, signed a major deal to produce content for Netflix.
Binge-watchers and Obama lovers rejoice because this deal will include the potential for scripted series, unscripted series, docu-series, documentaries, and features, according to a news release.
“One of the simple joys of our time in public service was getting to meet so many fascinating people from all walks of life, and to help them share their experiences with a wider audience,” said Barack of the partnership. "We hope to cultivate and curate the talented, inspiring, creative voices who are able to promote greater empathy and understanding between peoples, and help them share their stories with the entire world.”
Michelle agreed: “Barack and I have always believed in the power of storytelling to inspire us, to make us think differently about the world around us, and to help us open our minds and hearts to others. Netflix’s unparalleled service is a natural fit for the kinds of stories we want to share, and we look forward to starting this exciting new partnership.”
As of now, it's not known when the first Obama-produced series, movie, or document will premiere, but we do know that the 125 million-member Netflix households in 190 countries will be able to enjoy them!
