Princess Diana is still a fashion icon. She will always be remembered for her fashion style, but there is one dress that marked Lady Di's life and is a sign of empowerment: the famous "revenge dress."
When Princess Diana and Prince Charles separated, it still took a couple of years to finally get divorced; however, he publicly announced his infidelity with Camila Parker in June 1994, according to the documentary The Story of Diana.
The following day, Lady Di was invited to the Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens and with a simple gesture, without showing her feelings to the press, she made a statement.
Diana looked stunning in a black and fitted dress with her shoulders completely uncovered and an asymmetrical open slit showing her legs.

"The revenge dress" June 1994 This month marks the 24th anniversary of this iconic dress Princess Diana wore for the Serpentine Gallery Summer Party in 1994. The dress was designed in 1991 by Christina Stambolian and it was she herself who revealed that when Diana saw the dress she thought he was "too bold for the royal protocol." After her separation and divorce from Charles, Lady Di showed her more human side and reaffirmed her personality, left behind her shyness and became the fashion icon we know today.
The British press described the outfit as the "revenge dress" to symbolize the class reaction and women empowerment of the princess.
